A DOT (Department of Transportation) physical is a medical examination required by the
Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) for commercial drivers. This exam

  • Monovision contacts not permitted
  • Hear forced whisper at 5 feet

  • Hearing aids permitted
  • Must perceive average hearing loss less than 40 dB
  • Stage 1 (140-159/90-99): 1-year certificate
  • Stage 2 (160-179/100-109): 3-month temporary certificate
